A decision to build one of the UK's biggest solar farms, on the Lincolnshire-Rutland border, is being delayed until next month.

We were expecting to find out today whether the Mallard Pass scheme - which would power 90,000 homes - would be going ahead.

There are concerns about the impact the 2,000-acre solar farm would have on the local environment, as well the loss of high quality agricultural land.

The Energy Secretary has set a new deadline of 13th June.

In a statement Claire Coutinho said: "I have decided to set a new deadline of no later than 13 June 2024 for deciding this application. This is to ensure there is sufficient time for the Department to consider the application."

"The decision to set the new deadline for this application is without prejudice to the decision on whether to grant or refuse development consent."
