Body found in search for missing Gregor Gibbons

The body has not been identified but the 32-year-old's family has been told

A body has been pulled from the River Kelvin in the search for Gregor Gibbons who was last seen on Tuesday 2nd July. He left his home for work but never arrived there and was reported missing the following day by family members.

Gregor's family have been informed that a body has been found in a river, police have confirmed, although formal identification has not yet been carried out.

Gregor Gibbons, a 32-year-old Rangers fan was last seen the Colston area of Glasgow on July 2 and his disappearance sparked large-scale search operations involving police divers.

Officers recovered the body from the River Kelvin in the vicinity of Dullatur Bridge in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire, at around 11am on Friday.

Officers say that a post-mortem will take place to establish his cause of death, which is currently being treated as being unexplained, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
