The Scottish SPCA is asking for your help as the coronavirus pandemic takes its toll on food donations to centres.

Scotland's animal welfare charity had to close all nine animal rescue and rehoming centres to the public to protect staff and visitors from the spread of coronavirus.

This means rehoming has had to cease during this time - meaning the public is unable to drop off donations as normal.

It also means while animals are still being rescued, no animals are being adopted meaning there are more to care for than normal.

Mica, animal care assistant at the Lanarkshire animal rescue rehoming centre, said:

"We are currently caring for 165 animals at the moment in this centre alone, and obviously we rely solely on public donations and this time it is really difficult because of the new things that are in place from the government.

"We are not accepting donations face to face and we are wanting it all to be done through our Amazon wishlist.

"We are really struggling at the moment because there's such a large influx of animals that we've got because we're not rehoming at the moment either so that's also another issue.

Donations can be made from each centre’s Amazon wishlist online.
