Two Glasgow men stand accused of attempted murder

Two men have appeared at court accused of attempting to murder a man.

Alexander McCann, 36, and Brian McCann, 35, allegedly assaulted James Weir, 31, in a close in Glasgow's Maryhill on May 15 2023.

Court papers state the pair repeatedly struck Mr Weir on the body with a knife or similar instrument to his danger of life and attempted murder.

A separate charge states Brian McCann went on to assault Mr Weir by pursuing and pushing him to the ground.

It is claimed that Brian McCann also repeatedly punched and kicked him to the body to his severe injury.

Brian McCann is lastly charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Allegations say he shouted, swore and repeatedly issued threats to kill Mr Weir.

Mr Weir is understood to be in a serious condition in hospital.

Alexander and Brian McCann were in the dock today at Glasgow Sheriff Court in a private hearing.

No plea was made and the pair.

Alexander McCann, of Springburn, and Brian McCann, of Ruchill, were remanded in custody meantime by Sheriff Vincent Lunny.
