A woman who attacked a steward at Celtic Park was fined £290 earlier.

Leigh Penman, 21, struck Gary McNulty after the Hoops hosted Aberdeen on flag day on July 31 2022.

Penman was embroiled in a separate disturbance and Mr McNulty became involved in.

Aggressive Penman then slapped Mr McNulty on the head before he fled the scene.

She later hurled a tirade of verbal abuse to police officers on the way back home to her mother's address in Motherwell, Lanarkshire.

Penman pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr McNulty.

She also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The court heard that Penman and two others had been at the game earlier that day.

Prosecutor Eilidh Macdonald said: "At this stage, one of the stewards - Mr McNulty - had to attend in relation to a disturbance and in doing so Penman fell to the ground.

"She then attempted to pull Penman up and as he did so she struck him to the right side of the face.

"Penman got up and ran away however Mr McNulty along with a colleague were able to catch up with her."

Penman was held before police arrived and the officers conveyed her to her mother's home.

She became abusive towards police stating: "F scum, fing pigs, you are a f*ing idiot, wait until you are out your uniform, I will get you baldy b****, f*ing whe, you are going to hell."

Haroun Malik, defending, told the court that his client is "highly apologetic" for her conduct.

The lawyer added: "The jovial and celebratory attitude of 'We Never Stop' was definitely ruined when she drank to excess."

It was revealed that Penman has one previous conviction for assault.
