Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande may have had one of the shortest engagements in the history of showbiz, but there was a collective sadness amongst their fans when they called it off last week. They may have only been together for four months - and although their engagement after a couple of weeks was a bit of a surprise, they seemed really happy.

Unfortunately, it wasn't to be - and they split last week. Ariana reportedly returned her huge ring to Pete, and he moved back in with his family. Although neither directly commented on it, Ariana did post a now-deleted Instagram Story to reveal she was taking time out of the internet to deal with her 'sadness'.

But Pete has now opened up about the split, even joking about it on-stage as he co-hosted US comedy show Judd & Pete for America with Judd Apatow. Well, he is a comedian after all.

He reportedly told the crowd, "Well, as you could tell, I don't want to be here. There's a lot going on. Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?" also later revealing that he'd had to get loads of tattoos about Ariana covered up.

Pete later said, "So, obviously you know I, we broke up or whatever but when me and her first got engaged we got tattoos, and it was in a magazine like, 'Was Pete Davidson stupid?' And 93% of it said yes.

"So my boy, he was like, 'Don't listen to that. They're literally haters.' And I'm like, yeah. I'm not stupid. And the other day we were in my kitchen and he was like, 'Yo bro. Turns out you were stupid.'"

Insiders close to Pete told E! News that he was doing "fine" after the split, adding that he has "a strong support system of family and friends around him that are keeping him laughing," but reports surfaced shortly after that Ariana's family were "worried about her."

Another source revealed that the death of Ariana's ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, had played a major part in the split, telling Us Weekly, "It put a tremendous amount of strain on their relationship."
