Damien Hirst To Design 2013 BRIT Award
Plus more details are revealed about the ceremony
Headline-grabbing artist Damien Hirst has been named as the designer of the 2013 BRIT Award.
Infamous for his formaldehyde preserved sharks and diamond encrusted skulls, 47-year-old Hirst follows in the footsteps of Dame Vivienne Westwood and Sir Peter Blake who designed the 2011 and 2012 trophies respectively.
BRITs Chairman David Joseph said: “We are delighted that Damien will become the third extraordinary creative Briton to reimagine the BRIT statue.
“He is truly one of the most important British artists ever and his unique vision will make winning a 2013 BRIT an even more special proposition.”
Taking place at The O2 Arena on Wednesday 20th February, The BRIT Awards ceremony will be hosted by James Corden for a fourth time and his third in a row.
The nominations launch will take place at The Savoy in London on 10th January and will be hosted by Nick Grimshaw.
The 2012 BRIT Awards saw Ed Sheeran and Adele both win two awards while other winners included Coldplay, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Lana Del Rey, Foo Fighters and Emeli Sandé.
