Rylan Clark-Neal has lost his job on The Xtra Factor after ITV confirmed the show has been axed after nearly 13 years.

A statement released by ITV said, “In the past year there has been an increase in digital engagement and online audiences around The X Factor.

"In light of this, ITV’s strategy to focus their efforts on digital means The Xtra Factor on linear television has come to its natural end.

“We’ve had great fun making the show and would like to thank Rylan, Matt and Roman for their fantastic and entertaining work on the last series. We now look forward to focusing on making great content for our social platforms in support of the main show.”

After the news broke, Rylan took to Twitter to release a short statement where he paid tribute to all of the other presenters ever to host the show including Caroline Flack and Rochelle Humes.

The Xtra Factor has been a popular show on ITV2 for more than a decade, it first hit our TV screens way back in 2004.
