Edinburgh councillors are due to discuss the problem of motorbike crime later following the hit and run on Ferry Road at the weekend.

Despite police putting in extra resources in the north of the Capital youths have still been out joyriding.

The issue will be on the agenda when a full council meeting is held later.

There are calls for earlier intervention so kids who look like they're going off the rails can be persuaded not to turn to crime.

This is all comes after a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured in a collision with a stolen motorbike close to Drylaw Police Station on Saturday.

The child was crossing Ferry Road on a green man.

The search for the rider of the white Triumph Daytona 650cc continues.
