Earlier this year when she was announced as a nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dolly Parton revealed that she was planning to take a step away from the country genre she is known so well for to make a rock album. Now that the 2022 inductees have been announced, with Dolly on the list, the singer has shared some ideas she has for the album.

Speaking to Billboard, Dolly spoke about a photo she recently shared of her and The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, saying: "I loved him and I love 'Satisfaction'.

"I’m hoping we’re both around long enough when I get to doing this record that he’ll come sing with me, and I may have to use The Rolling Stones to play behind me."

She also shared some more details of what the potential rock album could look like, adding: "I might do something like that — try to get some different rock bands, some of the classic bands, to back me on some of the songs I do and then do two or three or four originals.

I’d like to get in with some of the great rock groups and do some things, but I’ve been working so hard on so many things and I’ve got to overcome this so-called controversy, which I never meant it to be that.

"So now I’m in the Rock Roll Hall of Fame. So I’m going to have to do a rock album at some point…Now I may have to call my album 'Rock Star!'".

Prior to her being chosen for the 2022 class, there was some back and forth over whether Dolly would be on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot. Upon finding out she was nominated she politely declined as she felt she hadn't 'earned that right' and would be taking away from other artists.

The Rock Hall stood by their decision, confirming that Dolly would remain on the ballot and saying: 'From its inception, Rock and Roll has had deep roots in Rhythm & Blues and country music. It is not defined by any one genre, rather a sound that moves youth culture. Dolly Parton’s music impacted a generation of young fans and influenced countless artists that followed'.

Dolly has since commented: "I appreciate the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame people for staying there with me. I never meant to cause trouble or stir up any controversy. It was just always my belief — and I think millions of other people out there too — always thought the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was just set up for the greatest people in the rock ‘n’ roll business."

She added: "I’m very honored and humbled, and so I’ll try to live up to it."
