The Rolling Stones' 'Hackney Diamonds' becomes their 14th UK Number 1 album
It's the first new music in nearly 20 years

The Rolling Stones are now UK Number 1 with their latest album 'Hackney Diamonds' after storming their way to the top of the charts. The album is the band's first new music since 'A Bigger Bang' was released in 2005, and features their latest songs 'Angry', 'Sweet Sounds of Heaven' featuring Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder and 'Mess It Up'.
'Hackney Diamonds' was released on 20th October, and in the following week was outselling the rest of the UK Top 10 combined and looked set to take the top spot. The album has now reached Number 1, shifting 72,200 chart units and giving the band consisting of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, their 14th UK Number 1 album, their first since band member Charlie Watts sadly died in 2021.
The band has now drawn level with The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen and Robbie Williams for the most UK Number 1 studio albums (11), however when taking into account greatest hits, re-issues and live albums, The Rolling Stones now equal Robbie Williams (14) and are just behind The Beatles, with 16 albums which have reached Number 1 in the UK.
Since the release of the band's highly-anticipated album, they surprised fans with a performance in New York City, with Lady Gaga, who features on their song 'Sweet Sounds of Heaven'.
The band took to the stage in a 650-capacity venue called Racket NYC, which was packed with friends, fellow musicians and celebrities, including Jimmy Fallon, Trevor Noah, Daniel Craig, Mary Kate Olsen, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Chris Rock, Taylor Hill, Rachel Weisz, Christie Brinkley, Ed Burns, Keegan-Michael Key, Minka Kelly, Christy Turlington and ‘Hackney Diamonds’ producer Andrew Watt.
