U2 set to make history at this year's Grammy Awards

U2 are set to make history this weekend during the Grammy Awards, as the band will be performing live from Sphere in Las Vegas, as part of the event.

In the first-ever broadcast performance from the Sphere, the 22-time Grammy Award winners will be joining the line-up which includes: Billy Joel, Luke Combs, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Burna Boy and Travis Scott.

The band's segment will also feature a Special Awards presentation at the ceremony.

U2 took to Instagram recently to announce the exciting news, writing: '🎤 All the way from Sphere in Las Vegas, it’s @u2. Tune-in to the 66th #GRAMMYs Sunday, February 4th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on @cbstv.'

Since the announcement fans have been left very excited, with one commenting: 'U2 at the Sphere was probably the best concert that I have ever witnessed! The Sphere experience with U2 was absolutely on a whole nother level! The sound, the visuals, the band, Bono and the Edge made this truly an Epic and one of a lifetime experience! I’m still on such a natural high from this show!'

They continued: 'Any act that follows U2 will not even come close to the performance that they gave! One of the best touring bands in the world in my humble opinion! Even Better Than The Real Thing, lol!' (sic)

U2 have been performing at the Sphere as part of their Las Vegas residency 'Achtung Baby', and wowed fans when they premiered their new show back in October 2023.

The amazing venue features a 16K resolution wraparound interior LED screen, speakers with beamforming and wave field synthesis technologies, and 4D physical effects. It is 112 metres high and 157 metres wide, and has an equally impressive exterior of 580,000 sq ft (54,000 m2) of LED displays.

This year's Grammy Awards will be taking place on Sunday 4th February at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
