As viewers sat down to watch Davina McCall's brand new dating show My Mum, Your Dad, last night (11th September), many weren't quite sure what to expect. Not only did the show leave viewers in tears, at the emotional stories that played out, but they also took to social media to share their excitement at hearing so many great songs. Many of which you can hear on the Greatest Hits Radio playlist.

Without revealing too many spoilers, the show starts by introducing middle-aged single parents with their adult children. As the singletons are introduced, they're seen driving along country lanes, to a large house, and each pair is accompanied by an uplifting power ballad, or classic love song.

One of the first pairs to arrive was 58-year-old widower Roger and his daughter, 28-year-old Jess. As the pair drove up to the country estate Boston's 1976 classic 'More Than a Feeling' played out, while Jess told her dad he looked dapper and suave, while he admitted he was nervous haven't been out of the dating game for nearly 40 years.

As another duo drove through the countryside, Fleetwood Mac's hit 'Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow' introduced mother and daughter 51-year-old Caroline and 21-year-old Karli.

Other songs featured on the show include The Human League's 'Together In Electric Dreams', REO Speedwagon's 'Can't Fight This Feeling', Steve Winwood's 'Higher Love', Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and U2's 'With or Without You', to name just a few.

One viewer wrote: 'The music is great. I like it. I like all of the backstories: they’ll all have one', with another commenting: 'You need to do a soundtrack. Loving the music'.

A third fan commented: 'I wasn't going to watch this, then the music came on and I love every song they've played so far. Some of then are already on my playlist. So I'll keep on watching.'

My Mum, Your Dad continues weeknights at 9pm on ITV and STV.
