The Scottish Women’s Golf Open tees off at Dundonald Links, and the Ayrshire crowd will be able to cheer on one of their own.

A year on from making her pro debut at the tournament, West Kilbride’s Louise Duncan is among the wide range of talent competing again this year after being invited back to the event.

The 23-year-old admits the nerves were rife last year, considering she’d only made the decision to go pro days before the tournament.

Since then Louise has impressed with her performance and built up a lot more confidence and experience playing at the highest level.

She went on to earn her Ladies European Tour card, and secured three top-15 finishes along the way this year.

Now Louise is back on home turf and is telling Greatest Hits Radio that a year of experience as a pro has benefited her, but she’s focusing on having a consistent weekend in front of friends and family.

She said: “It was a great experience last year with my first pro event, but this year things are a little bit different. I feel a little bit more comfortable, I know a few more people as I see them week in week out on the tour, and that helps.

“Last year, I was quite nervous and didn’t know what to expect, so I’ll know what to expect this year and I know how to handle myself a bit better. I’ve played this course more times than I can count so will hopefully use that to my advantage.

“It’s nice to feel more familiar, and I’m hoping it will be an exciting week. I just need to go enjoy the experience. I’ve got a few family and friends coming down so hopefully I can put on a good show for them to enjoy as well.”
