As the family of Muriel McKay continue to seek answers in her disappearance, a barrister working with the family from Trinidad believes the killer has every reason to be telling the truth.

Muriel McKay was kidnapped in 1969 by Nizamodeen Hosein, after being mistaken for Rupert Murdoch's wife for which the kidnappers demanded a £1 million ransom.

Hosein, who had been deported to Trinidad after serving a life sentence for murder, signed an official oath in December giving the family the exact location of her body at a farm in Hertfordshire.

In late December, Muriel's family went to see a judge seeking advice for the next steps in their lifelong search for her body.

Since then, they have been working hard to explore every possible option to retrieve her body.

"...I think is selfishly motivated insofar as he, himself, wants to reach a certain level of closure before he dies."

Both Hosein himself and Muriel's family are wanting the Home Office to lift his deportation order for him to assist police in one final search for Muriel's body.

Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio, the barrister working with the family from Trinidad, Matthew Gayle, who has been building a trusted relationship with Nizamodeen Hosein for over two years, said: "The reality I think is selfishly motivated insofar as he, himself, wants to reach a certain level of closure before he dies."

A search had been carried out by the Met Police in 2022, however proved unsuccessful.

Muriel's family believes the search to have been limited with no warrant obtained to dig up the farm at which she is said to be buried.

Earlier this month, Mark Dyer, Muriel's grandson, offered the farmer, who now owns the property in Hertfordshire, £40,000 to allow them to search the grounds, but has not yet agreed.

They believe the final piece to this puzzle would be to lift Hosein's deportation order and for the police to search the property one last time.

"The location of the body, he has remained absolutely resolute on..."

Mr Gayle, who has been analysing the personality of the killer for years now, believes he has every reason to be telling the truth.

He said: "The location of the body, he has remained absolutely resolute on. I'm not convinced he is someone who is capable of making something like this up and consistently sticking to this story for two years."

"But am I sceptical about some of the things he says? For sure!"

"I guess what I've been doing is a sort of jigsaw assembly process of questioning him over time, and so there are a number of key themes that have remained consistent."

A spokesperson for the Met Police said "We understand how frustrating and difficult this matter has been for Muriel’s family and remain in contact with them."

"The investigation remains live and we continue to review and assess new information, keeping an open mind to all available options to recover Muriel."
