Every year, the University of Bedfordshire welcomes thousands of students on its various campuses across the county.

With each term comes new faces, which can often be a challenge for those feeling anxious or worried.

Ruki Heritage, Director of Student Experience at the University of Bedfordshire, said: "New or returning this is all about reconnecting with the university, settling back in, getting back into that rhythm again and gearing up for the new challenges."

Although the start of the term may be tainted by a week of industrial action from academic staff across the country, the University of Bedfordshire wants to reassure students that support is available to them.

"...we try to stay ahead of the game..."

Ms Heritage said: "It's how do we reach our students. For our university we have stands and posters everywhere and we ask them to come talk to us."

With the current financial climate, a huge worry students are raising is the cost of living crisis, which, in some cases, affect their decision to go to university altogether.

Added to that are concerns over mental wellbeing, and worrying and dangerous trends affecting young people across the UK.

Amongst those is spiking, to which Ms Heritage said: "We contact students, we have campaigns, we have guidance information so when there are things that happen we try to stay ahead of the game and support our students."

The campus opened its doors last week for its introductory events, and will now welcome students back for the teaching term starting.
