A car park in Shropshire was sealed off this afternoon (17 April) after police found a unexploded ordnance device.

A 30-metre cordon was set up in Wem, around the Leek Street car park, as West Mercia Police dealt with the item.

The force said Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers attended, and moved the device to a safe location and carried out a controlled explosion.

The cordon was lifted at around 8pm.
