A warning's been issued for major disruption ahead as a section of one of Galashiels' busiest roads is reduced to one-way.

For two weeks - from 8am on Monday (January 29th) until 5pm on Sunday, February 11th - only southbound traffic will be allowed on the A7 - outside the town's Transport Interchange.

It's to allow for the installation of new power cables, and will affect traffic between the roundabouts at Stirling Street and Starbucks.

Northbound traffic will be diverted via Currie Road, Bank Street and High Street.

The blue line shows the diversion route for northbound traffic while Ladhope Vale is reduced to one-way.

The temporary order - which will see Stirling Street reduced to one-way the following week (February 12th to 18th) - has led to a local bus operator announcing changes to its services - with some missing out the town's bus station and terminating at Asda instead.

Stirling Street will be reduced to one-way.

It's feared local shops and businesses could also be affected by the disruption, if the diversion route - which has a number of sets of traffic lights - gets clogged with traffic.
