The Co-op store in Kelso's High Croft is sealed off with police tape this morning (Thursday) following reports of a robbery overnight.

The store's branch in Wooler is also closed after being targeted by thieves, along with the Morrisons supermarket in Berwick.

Locals say as many as ten police cars, dogs and drones were involved in a search for the culprits, who are reported to have used an estate type car and two pickups.

It's the second time the Co-op store in Wooler has been targeted in less than six months.

In September, it was broken into on the same night as the Co-op store in Chirnside and Berwick Rangers Football Club.

Around £500 was also stolen during a break-in at the milk bar in Wooler in December.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2am on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, officers received a report of a break-in and theft at a premises on High Croft, Kelso.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

All the stores, including the Coop in Kelso (pictured) have since reopened.

It's unclear what's been taken in the latest raids and if they're being linked, but it's understood no arrests have yet been made.

Entry appeared to have been gained through the cafe area of Morrisons in Berwick - similar to how entry was gained to the store in Hawick in 2020.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 2.35am today (Thursday), we received a report of burglary at premises on Loaning Meadows in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

“Police then received a report of another burglary at around 3.10am at a premises on Market Place in Wooler.

“Officers attended both premises and enquiries remain ongoing."
