The body of a 76-year-old man has been discovered in the Yarrow area of the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services rushed to the scene - just off the A708, south of Selkirk - following the grim find, shortly before midday on Sunday (December 10th).

Police say the man's death is being treated as "unexplained", but that there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

The pensioner's family have been informed of the incident, and a report detailing what happened will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Fire crews from across the Borders and Edinburgh were among those to respond to the multi-agency incident, along with police, ambulance, and mountain rescue teams.

One eyewitness said: "Never seen such a big rescue team before. There were three ambulances, two fire engines, three mountain rescue that I could see, and loads of police cars. There's police tape all the way down the steep banking."
