Glastonbury Festival cancelled for second time
Organisers say "with great regret" 2021 will have to be another enforced fallow year
Glastonbury Festival has been cancelled for the second consecutive year because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Organiser Emily Eavis announced the news on Twitter today (21/01), saying they have taken the decision, "with great regret".
They say this will instead be another enforced fallow year.
"In spite of our efforts to move heaven and earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year," the statement reads.
"We are so sorry to let you all down".
In normal times the event is held every year at Worthy Farm in Somerset, brining in tens of millions of pounds to the local economy.
"As with last year, we would like to offer all those who secured a ticket in October 2019 the opportunity to roll their £50 deposite over to next year, and we guarantee the chance to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2022," the statement continues.
"We are very appreciative of the faith and trust placed in us by those of you with deposits, and we are very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022!"
