For the first time in their history, Bristol Airport say they've welcomed 10 million passengers through their terminal in a consecutive 12 month period.

To celebrate the milestone, bosses at the airport say they selected 10 lucky customers at random - and presenting them with return airline tickets, retail, catering vouchers and other gifts.

This news comes amid the airport undergoing major renovation work at the moment - costing hundreds of millions of pounds.

In total, £400 million is going to be spent over the next five years on new state of the art security screening equipment, refurbishment of the Air Traffic Control Tower, terminal improvements, catering and retail enhancements.

A major £60m public transport interchange and multi-storey car park project is currently underway and is due to open in summer 2025.

The public transport interchange will be created for coaches, buses and other forms of public transport on the top level of the multi-storey car park.

Dave Lees, CEO, Bristol Airport, said: “It is exciting to mark these milestones with customers and colleagues as they demonstrate how much progress has been made on our transformation programme.

“Hopefully this gives our customers an appreciation of how soon they will be able to start making use of these new state-of-the-art facilities.

“Over £400m is being invested in the Airport facilities which will be transformational, not just in terms of the buildings being created, but the experience we will be able to deliver to customers, airlines and business partners.

“We continue to make a major contribution to skills and employment in the region, by recruiting local people for local jobs and providing Apprenticeship opportunities across the fifty separate businesses we have based on site.”

The development of Bristol Airport to being a 12 million passenger per annum airport will create thousands of new jobs in the years ahead, open-up new direct air links, and support inbound tourism for the region.
