Devon & Cornwall Police confirm death of 20-year-old biker after crash

Three other men were uninjured after the collision near Torrington, including a 59-year-old from Torpoint and a 39-year-old from Bude

Devon & Cornwall Police are investigating a fatal crash in north Devon.

They have confirmed a 20-year-old biker died near Torrington.

His motorbike, two HGVs and a van collided on the A388 on Tuesday afternoon (27th July).

Three others escaped unhurt, including a 59-year-old man from Torpoint and a 39-year-old man from Bude.

Police are urging anyone who saw something just before 3.15pm to come forward.

Police said: "At 1512hrs on Tuesday 27th July 2021 a four vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the A388 between Frithelstockstone and Stibb Cross near Torrington.

"The collision involved a red Suzuki Motorcycle, two rigid Heavy Goods vehicles and a white Ford van.

"Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a 20-year-old local male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"A 59-year-old male from the Torpoint area, a 39-year-old male from the Bude area and another male local to the area were un-injured in the collision.

"Local officers as well as officers from the roads policing team and the Serious Collison Investigation Team attended the scene and a forensic examination was completed.
