A man is in hospital in a serious but stable condition following a car crash in Dorchester.

The 58 year old from Weymouth was involved in a collision at around 9.15am yesterday (16th August).

A black Nissan collided with a wall on Celtic Crescent.

Police from Dorchester and the traffic unit attended, along with paramedics from the ambulance service.

Officers say they'd like to thank members of the public who assisted at the scene and provided first aid to the driver until the ambulance arrived.

The road was closed for around two hours while emergency services were on the scene.

There's now an appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said:

“We are investigating the circumstances of this incident. I would ask anyone who saw the collision or has any dashcam footage in Celtic Crescent at the relevant time to please contact us.”
