This year will be the 21st year the competition has been played at the Belvedere club and thanks to the continued association with headline sponsor Lloyd Dowson, the event has grown into the largest event of its kind in the Yorkshire PGA calendar.

The event is set to take place on Friday, June 3, and professional golfers from all around the North of England will descend upon the Bridlington club in a bid to win the first prize of £1,200 and the much coveted Seaside Pro-Am Trophy.

Event organiser Anthony Howarth told said: “Preparations are going well and we are looking forward to another successful event.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Lloyd Dowson for their incredible support.”

Vanessa Rowbottom, marketing manager for Lloyd Dowson, added: “We are pleased to be the main sponsors of the Seaside Pro/Am for 2016 and have chosen the Viking FM Cash for Kids appeal as the beneficiary charity for this event.

“We strongly believe in community support and local organisations and projects benefiting from fund-raising.”

Each competing professional will be joined by three amateur golfers and these teams will compete for the Lloyd Dowson Team Trophy.

Last year, the leading professional golfer was Liam O’Neill of Cookridge Hall, who won with an excellent four-under-par, and the winning team was Bradley Roofing with a very impressive score of 17-under-par.

Since the inaugural event back in 1996, the Seaside Pro/Am has raised well over £50,000 for many worthwhile charities.

“There will be a number of fund-raising activities during the day and everyone is welcome to come to the golf club during the day to support this very worthwhile cause.

Charlotte Pickering, charity manager for Cash for Kids, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Lloyd Dowson as the beneficiary charity for this event.

“The funds raised will make a significant impact in the community this summer, funding many local projects and urgent needs of families with sick and disadvantaged children.

“I would like to give a heartfelt thanks in advance to all supporters of the event who will enable these vital funds to be raised.”
