It's claimed plans to transform Scunthorpe town centre are well underway and will make a real difference to people in the area.

A number of projects have been announced over recent months to reshape the High Street - using money from the Levelling-Up Fund.

Richard Holden Conservative party chairman visited yesterday and told us:

You have to provide a reason to be here

"It's great see the church in the square being repurposed as an arts centre - something positive for the community."

"It's great to see those jobs being brought as part of the hub."

"It's great to see the diagnostics centre here."

"It's hugely challenging - it really is because what you have to do is provide a reason to be here."

"I think that's what North Lincolnshire council have really focussed on - how do we get people here."

"What can we do to provide the next generation of things to bring into the town centre."

I think we're taking a really proactive approach in Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe MP Holly Mumby Croft told us: "I think we actually need to be really proud of where we're from, put our best foot forward, give people a reason to stay here and see our area thrive."

"It's part of our culture, part of our heritage and we do care passionately about our high street."

"But things have to move forward and we have to have a reason for people to come here and we want people to come here and support those local businesses."

"We taking, I think a really proactive approach in Scunthorpe."

Labour has previously said the Government's levelling up plans don't go far enough.
