The South Promenade at Hornsea is closed after high tides led to flooding with one car badly damaged,

Waves came over the sea wall which lead to East Riding council taking the decision to shut it.

The car was largely submerged, but no one was hurt. The owner and their dog were unharmed.

Another high tide is expected this evening with emergency services closely monitoring the situation.

Elsewhere we're being reassured all pathways and beaches in the Bridlington area remain open despite parts of a cliff falling off.

It happened on private land and the King Charles III coastal path isn't affected.

However walkers are being advised to take extra care in the area if they're on the cliff top or beaches below.
