Euro 2016 kicks off on the 10th June and this year's host country is France. If you’re not up to speed with your French, here's a guide so you can be!

Ball = Ballon

Defender = Défenseur

Midfielder = Milieu

Winger = Ailier

Goalkeeper = Gardien de but

Captain = Capitaine

Substitute = Remplacer

Striker = Attaquant

Half-time = Mi-temps

Kick-off = Coup d'envoi

Referee = Arbitre

Injury time = Temps additionnel

Offside = Hors-jeu

Foul = Faute

Yellow/red card = Carton jaune/rouge

Free kick = Coup franc

Nutmeg = Un petit pont

Penalty = Pénalité

Equaliser = L**es but égalisateur**

To score a goal = Marquer un but

Clear the ball = Degager

Shoot = Tirer

Penalty shoot out = Tirs au but

Pitch = Terrain

Tackle = Tacler

What a goal! = Quel joli but!

Own goal = But contre son camp
