A 17-year-old boy's been arrested following the attack on a Raith Rovers fan after yesterday's Fife derby with Dunfermline Athletic.

A shocking video posted on social media shows a gang repeatedly kicking the young man as he lies on the ground.

Inspector Neil McGurk said: “A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the assault of an 18-year-old man which happened in Dunfermline around 5.30pm on Tuesday, 2 January, 2024 following the Dunfermline Athletic v Raith Rovers football fixture.

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace others involved.”

Raith Rovers released a statement saying it will offer support in any way possible to the supporter who was attacked.

Dunfermline has also released a statement saying the supporters involved will be banned from its ground, East End Park.

The post on the clubs website added: "The club condemns all forms of violence in the strongest possible way and we will support the authorities in identifying any individuals involved.

"We will work with Raith Rovers to ensure that the supporter involved receives the support they need."

Police have confirmed they are investigating.

Raith Rovers won the match 2-1.
