Throughout May 2022, we counted down the Top 500 biggest songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s to find the greatest hit of all time as voted for by our Greatest Hits Radio listeners, and you can check out the results right here! You can view the full list of Top 500 songs, or keep reading to see who took the top spots.
There are several artists who had numerous tracks in 2022's countdown, including Queen who had an incredible 17 songs in the chart. David Bowie wasn't far behind with 12 hit songs including 'Space Oddity' and 'Fame'.
Elton John, Blondie, George Michael, and ABBA were also among the most popular artists from the 2022 Top 500 countdown, and the Top 10 songs included 'Could You Be Loved' by Bob Marley and 'Sweet Dreams' by Eurythmics.

Number 5 - 'Wuthering Heights' by Kate Bush
Based on the classic book of the same name by Emily Bronte, 'Wuthering Heights' was released as a single in 1978 and went to Number 1 in the UK Charts.
The song launched Kate's career and she went on to release hit songs including 'Running Up That Hill' and 'The Man With the Child in His Eyes'.

Number 4 - 'Bat Out of Hell' by Meat Loaf
Arguably Meat Loaf's greatest song, 'Bat Out of Hell' was released in 1977, and was written by Jim Steinman for his stage production Neverland.
The album of the same name was Meat Loaf's debut album and it is one of the best-selling albums in history.

Number 3 - 'Starman' by David Bowie
This song was the last one written for David Bowie's 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' album and sees him in his Ziggy Stardust alterego. Released in 1972, it became the first of his songs to top the UK Chart in three years.

Number 2 - 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO
Used in numerous films and adverts since its release in 1977, 'Mr Blue Sky' was one of the first songs Jeff Lynne wrote for ELO's 'Out Of The Blue' album.

Number 1 - 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen
The ever-popular 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen was originally released in 1975 and was a massive hit at the time, making it a Christmas Number 1, and staying in the top spot for nine weeks.
And it isn't just the song that is very well-known. The music video brought music videos to the masses when it was released, having just cost £3500 to make and taking just three hours to shoot!
