Following the airing of Pet Shop Boys: Then and Now, a BBC documentary as part of Alan Yentob's Imagine... series, it is now available to stream online.

The band, who are known for their hits 'Go West' and 'West End Girls', amongst many others, also have a new album 'Nonetheless' coming out this month, and now fans can get a glimpse behind the music.

For the first time ever, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe let a camera crew backstage on their 'Dreamworld' tour. As the duo explained in their Instagram post: 'Pet Shop Boys: Then and Now”, a new “Imagine…“ documentary feature with Alan Yentob, will be airing on @bbcone on 16th April. This is the first time Neil and Chris have allowed backstage access to a camera team, accompanying them during the #Dreamworld tour for an intimate look inside the world and creations of Pet Shop Boys.'

They went on to explain Alan will be chatting to Neil and Chris about their upcoming album, and other guests on the show include the UK's Eurovision contestant Olly Alexander, Jake Shears and Brandon Flowers, amongst others.

According to the BBC, the show synopsis says: 'Maintaining their privacy and mystique has kept cameras at bay for decades and now for the first time they have allowed backstage access as Alan Yentob and imagine… accompany them on their global Dreamworld tour - filming rehearsals in London and backstage in Helsinki.

'Spring 2024 sees the release of their latest album, Nonetheless, which comes 40 years after the original release of their timeless hit West End Girls. imagine… is given a sneak preview of the new album and talks to Tennant and Lowe about its creation and their creative evolution over the past four decades.

'This is an intimate look inside the world and creations of Pet Shop Boys with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe unguarded, poignant and hilarious.'

The programme is called Pet Shop Boys: Then and Now, it is part of the Imagine... series on BBC One.

Pet Shop Boys: Then and Now was aired on BBC One at 10.40pm on Tuesday 16th April, it is now available on iPlayer.

It will feature a surprise appearance from the late Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright, from a recording from 2007. The album was produced by David Gilmour and Charlie Andrew.
