The location of The White Lotus season 3 has been 'revealed'

When it was announced last year that hit series The White Lotus would be renewed for a third season, fans were speculating as to where it could be set, and now it's been 'revealed'.

As Variety reports, multiple sources have confirmed the new series will be set in Thailand, following the previous two series being set at the Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Sicily.

Although this has not been confirmed by HBO, the show's creator, writer and director, Mike White has previously hinted at the series being set in Asia, saying it might focus on: "death and Eastern religion and spirituality."

Speaking to Deadline last year, Mike said: "The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus."

Although filming for the new series has yet to start, sources have also revealed that Mike has been spending a lot of time in Thailand looking for suitable locations.

With the previous series being shot at the luxurious Four Seasons, if they continue to film in those resorts then Mike would have a choice of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle in Thailand.

So far, we have been treated to two seasons of The White Lotus, the first is set in Hawaii, and the second in the the beautiful Italian island of Sicily.

The cast for season three has not yet been announced, but we are likely to see several new faces. Season two saw a primarily new cast, with Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid being the common thread between the first two seasons.

Since starting back in 2021, The White Lotus has been extremely popular receiving 11 nominations at the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards across five categories.
