Man arrested after knifepoint robbery in Chelmsford

A car was stolen after the driver was threatened

A man's been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a car was stolen from a driver at knifepoint in Chelmsford.

The driver of a silver Ford Fiesta was threatened with a knife by the suspect, who took the vehicle and left the scene of Rainsford Road, just after midnight on Tuesday (April 30th).

The driver wasn't injured and is receiving support.

A 34-year-old man from Chelmsford's been arrested, on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving, possession of a Class A drug, and being wanted on recall to prison.

It was after the vehicle was seen heading towards Parkway and Forest drive, and was reportedly involved in a crash with another vehicle as it was fleeing the scene.

The vehicle and items in it have been recovered.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident, as well as anyone with footage, is asked to contact Essex Police.
