Overturned lorry on M74 sparks police appeal for information

Police are appealing for information following a road crash involving an HGV on the M74 northbound flyover on Thursday, 4 April, 2024.

Around 12.10pm the HGV was travelling southbound on the M73 and when it continued on to the M74 northbound onslip it overturned and collided with the crash barrier, coming to rest on the flyover.

Emergency services attended and the 33-year-old driver was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be checked over.

There was extensive damage to the crash barrier and diesel had leaked from the fuel tank onto the roadway and the onslip was closed for a number of hours while repairs were carried out.

Sergeant Chris McColm from Road Policing said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and we are appealing for any motorists who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.
