People in Gloucestershire are being urged to order prescriptions before bank holiday closures
People who have regular repeat prescriptions are being reminded to check and order medication before the bank holiday.
Over the bank holiday weekend GPs and some pharmacies will be closed across Gloucestershire.
This week is expected to be busy for NHS services. And people are being reminded it will take at least three to five working days for pharmacists to process prescription orders.
Ada Williams, a community pharmacist in South Gloucestershire, said: "The key message is it is important for people who are going to need medication, or who take regularly medication, to check if you have enough now and put a request into your GP surgery."
Some services will remain open over the bank holiday, and 111 services will be available.
Ada Williams, said: "At any point over the bank holiday there will be a designated open pharmacy, this may not be your regular pharmacy. But we will have a rolling availability of pharmacies for you to go to with all the normal NHS services available."
Prescriptions can be requested on the NHS App, online, over the phone or face to face at a GP surgery, and sent directly to a preferred pharmacy for collection.
