A Grimsby teacher is heading to Buckingham Palace to pick up his MBE today, November 3.

The assistant head of Western Primary School, Grimsby, received the award for his efforts during lockdown in which he delivered over 10,000 school meals to local children.

He spent much of lockdown handing out meals to his pupils as well as during holiday time.

His MBE was given to him in the Queen's Birthday Honours last year, but today he will be officially awarded it.

He's been given the award for services to education and says it's tremendous:

""Got my invite through from Her Majesty for my investiture. I’m off to get my MBE this coming Wednesday today at Windsor Castle.

"I can’t wait, although a little nervous I’m so glad my children Jai and Bailey will be there. Unfortunately, Emile is still in America."

Zane Powles continues to deliver school meals to children:
