Can you believe it has been a whole year since millions of us went to the polls in the 2019 General Election?

Here in Plymouth, there was no change in the MPs representing the area. They are:

  • Sir Gary Streeter (South West Devon)
  • Johnny Mercer (Plymouth Moor View)
  • Luke Pollard (Plymouth Sutton & Devonport)

12 months on from the election, Greatest Hits Radio speak to all three MPs to find out what they have achieved, the challenges they have faced and their future priorities.

Below, you'll find a short interview with each MP:

Sir Gary Streeter:

Mr Streeter is currently pursuing a number of campaigns: access to primary care in Plympton, Plymstock and Ivybridge; climate change in South West Devon; the Great South West partnership; and post-Brexit agricultural framework.

When he was re-elected in 2019, he received 62.4% of the vote share - up from 2.5% in 2017.

Johnny Mercer:

Mr Mercer is currently the Minister for Defence People and Veterans in the Ministry of Defence and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs in the Cabinet Office. He was appointed this role in 2017.

His aims include: improving veterans care; improving mental health provision; and getting better representation for young people.

He increased his majority to nearly 13,000 votes in the last General Election - up from 5,019 in 2017.

Luke Pollard:

Mr Pollard is currently the Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - a role he was appointed in January.

He is working on a number of different campaigns, including: the National Marine Park, the Plymouth White Papers, defence and the Royal Navy.
