The Conservatives have announced who will be standing for them in August's re-election for Wiltshire and Swindon's Police and Crime Commissioner.

Philip Wilkinson has been selected after previous candidate Jonathan Seed was barred.

Mr Seed won the election, however was pulled out of the race a day before the count due to an old driving conviction.

After getting the majority of votes, it meant a new election is needed to choose an eligible candidate.

That is taking place on August 19th.

Mr Wilkinson served in the British Army for 31 years with the Royal Artillery, the Commando and Parachute Brigades and Special Forces before leaving to become a senior research fellow at King’s College London in 2000.

Philip said:

"It is a huge honour to have been selected as the Conservative Candidate for the forthcoming election. I am very much looking forward to persuading residents across Wiltshire that voting for me on August 19 means that they will see firm but fair policing, with a focus on preventing crime and ensuring there is no place for those who seek to commit crimes in our communities."

So far, the Liberal Democrats have announced that Cllr Brian Mathew will run for the party.

It's after Liz Webster, who finished second in May, announced she would not be running again.

Meanwhile Independent candidate Mike Rees has confirmed he will be standing in the election re-run.
