Safety work taking place on Salisbury's Brown Street

Work to improve the safety f the footpath on Brown Street in Salisbury begins today 9Monday 25th July).

They want to remove any hazards from the path, as well as help protect the trees in the area for longer.

During the works, a temporary footpath will be set up adjacent to the existing one to allow people to cross the car park and Wiltshire Council say clear signage will be in the area.

They're expecting work to take around five working days.

It's part of the local authority's planned maintenance programme and will help reduce trip hazards on the footpath caused by five trees in the area.

Work will be carried out on the base of the trees that will not only make the footpath safer, but also help protect the tree roots for the longer-term.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Operational Assets, said:

“This is a well-used car park and footpath so this work, which forms part of our maintenance programme, will make the area safer and also help protect the roots of the trees.

“We will ensure to keep disruption to the public to a minimum.”
