Teenagers in South Wiltshire will be learning more about urban search and rescue this week (from Monday 22nd August) - from some local experts.

Chilmark based charity Serve On is hosting a Summer Camp for 14 to 18 year olds.

It's a chance for young people to find out more about the organisation's work all over the world, as building skills like leadership, confidence, altruism and resilience.

Across the week, the residential camp will see teens getting experience in things like mock road traffic collisions and water rescues.

Serve On Director of Operations Dan Cooke said:

“It’s a great opportunity for young people to be exposed to leaders with a strong sense of purpose, to get a different perspective on life and to be valued for their contribution.

“There are leadership qualities in everyone and young people often have more to offer than they are given credit for, particularly in this age where their understanding of the digital world is so keen.

“This camp aims to bring out those qualities and boost their skills, confidence and self-esteem, while being fun at the same time.”

Young people taking part will also have a chance to win a £1,000 towards their own community project, as part of the week's activities.
