Fans of Taunton Town are having to travel out of their way for today's match - meant to be at home - after the ground once again failed a pitch inspection.

Bosses at the club say they didn't make the decision - with the National League taking it out of their hands to make sure no more games are postponed.

It's been a tough few months for the Peacocks, with heavy rain and a waterlogged pitch calling off a large number of matches - not helped with their current ground-share agreement with Truro City.

Fans will have to travel to Gloucester after the club announced the news earlier this morning.

In a statement, the Directors said: "The decision to move today's game to Meadow Park was a decision that was unfortunately taken out of the club’s hands upon insistence from the National League.

"It should be news to no-one that this decision will have a huge effect on the club’s financial situation. Gate revenue is fundamental to the club’s income, which is why the club had not already made the decision to move its home games elsewhere.

"We believe the National league has no intention in extending the season, so our fixtures need to be played. The League has requested that we find alternative venues for all remaining home games in the event we are unable to facilitate the fixture due to the condition of the pitch. Club staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure the pitch is in the best condition it can be for each home game; however, the weather continues to fraught our efforts.

"We are of course thankful to our fans for being so understanding and apologise again for such short notice. Season tickets and any pre bought tickets will be valid for tonight's game and we hope to see as many of you as possible at Gloucester supporting the team when they need it most."
