We have a Valentine’s Day gift for you that will last longer than a dozen red roses… Greatest Hits Radio Love, our latest exclusive Premium station, will be hosted by music’s very own #couplegoals, Martin and Shirlie Kemp.

Greatest Hits Radio presenter Martin Kemp and wife Shirlie, as one of the UK’s most famous – and famously loved up – couples were the only choice to be co-hosts on the station. They said: ‘Music has obviously always been a huge part of our relationship and it’s been a joy to hear some of our favourite love songs all over again and share them with Greatest Hits Love listeners. It’s bought back some wonderful memories and sparked some romantic reminiscences which we’ve both really enjoyed!’

Stand out tracks for Martin and Shirlie include Sade’s Your Love Is King – their first date was a trip to Ronnie Scott’s to watch Sade live – and You Are My One Temptation; the Mica Paris hit is the soundtrack to their St Lucia wedding video.

For such a loved-up couple however, their Valentine’s plans are surprisingly subtle. With their favourite restaurant, The Cliff in Barbados, too far to go for a date night its looking like Deliveroo will be the order of the day. And its unlikely gifts will be exchanged either, with both Martin and Shirlie having had some less than romantic Valentine’s experiences when it comes to presents.

Shirlie recalls a Valentine’s Day early in their relationship when the couple were spending a lot of time apart as Martin toured the world with Spandau Ballet: ‘Martin always used to send huge bunches of flowers, and one Valentine’s he sent an incredible bouquet of gorgeous red roses. When I got home that night my Doberman puppy had chewed them all and scattered them everywhere and I was so upset thinking ‘Martin’s not here and now the dog has eaten the flowers!’

And heart-throb Martin has been used to a flood of Valentine’s gifts from fans over the years, ‘mostly chocolate,’ he admits ‘but the weirdest stage I ever went through was when I was playing Steve Owen in EastEnders. I got sent a lot of ashtrays because I’d killed Saskia Duncan with one on the show. It’s not the happiest of shows and that’s not the most romantic of presents…’
