Covid-19 safety spot checks are going to be carried out in Waverley.

The Borough Council's Environmental Health team will be working with the Health and Safety Executive to offer businesses extra support.

During the checks, they will be offered guidance that will help them protect their staff, customers and visitors.

The Borough Council say these will be happening 'in the coming weeks'.

Councillor Nick Palmer, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Operational and Enforcement Services, said:

“Although cases of coronavirus in Waverley have been reducing in recent days, we all have a part to play in maintaining this downward trend and to ensure everyone stays safe in the borough.

"Whilst the vast majority of businesses are taking their responsibilities really seriously, we need every single one to do their bit to help us to control the risk and protect people from the spread of coronavirus.

"In the coming weeks, we will be talking to local businesses in Waverley to offer helpful advice and to understand how they are managing risks in line with their specific business activity. All businesses are in scope for these spot checks.”
