Surrey remembers Her Majesty the Queen

Her Majesty the Queen has died at the age of 96

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh tour the Large Animals Clinical Skills Building at the University of Surrey in Guildford, Surrey, where she officially opened a new state-of-the-art veterinary school.

Leaders from across the county of Surrey have been paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, after her death at the age of 96.

The Royal Family's official twitter account confirmed the news saying she died peacefully yesterday afternoon at Balmoral.

A notice confirming the Queen’s death has also been brought to the gates of Buckingham Palace.

Council's shared messages of support for The Royal Family since the announcement was made.

Emergency services across the county have also shared messages of sympathy.

The University of Surrey also released a statement from Professor Max Lu, their President and Vice-Chancellor, saying:

"On behalf of the University of Surrey community, I want to offer my most profound and sincere condolences to the Royal Family. Our University, along with people the world over, is mourning the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Her dedication to service, the country and the Commonwealth will be her most enduring legacy."
