Woman sexually assaulted in Esher

A police investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted in Esher.

The victim was followed by a man as she got off a bus on the Portsmouth Road near to the junction of Station Road shortly before 4pm on the 4th of October.

She began walking in the direction of the Marquis of Granby pub when the suspect approached the victim, grabbing her shoulders and attempting to push her down to the ground.

The victim managed to escape and the suspect ran off in the direction of Station Road.

The suspect identified himself to the victim as being in his early 20s and from Japan. In addition, he is described as being approximately 5ft 9 tall, of slim build and was wearing a yellow jumper.

Detective Inspector Mark Green, who is investigating the case, said:

“We appreciate that this incident will cause concern in the local community and I want to reassure you that officers have been doing all that they can and carrying out enquiries to try and identify the suspect of this incident. We are also conducting additional patrols in the area.

“If you were in the area yesterday at this time, I urge you to consider if you may have any dashcam footage that could aid the investigation, or if you saw anything suspicious to get in touch.”
