Blind Date was essential Saturday evening viewing in the 80s and 90s, and after 15 years off our screens it’s set to make a comeback!

Before shows like Take Me Out and First Dates, Blind Date was the original television dating show and TV bosses think its ready for a reboot.

The programme was fronted by the late Cilla Black from 1985-2003. Several names are rumoured to be in talks to present the new series including Olly Murs, Vicky Pattison, and actress Georgia May Foote.

Speaking to a national newspaper, a source said:

“It’s a classic format that will be rebooted to make it young, sexy and modern. Expect sparks to fly. In an age of Tinder, you have got to earn the right to love on this show.”

The new Blind Date will be shown on Channel 5 after they acquired the rights from ITV, and is expected to be on our screens later in 2017.
