Detectives said a 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene in Moat Road in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 25th February).

Officers forced their way into the address at 4am following concerns for the welfare of the people living at the property.

West Midlands Police said their initial investigations have led them to believe the deaths were as a result of a domestic-related incident, with no threat to the wider community.

The suspect was arrested at an address in Smethwick at 5.30am.

The force said he remains in custody and the victims' family is being supported.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

"We were called by police at 4.05am to a medical emergency at an address in Moat Road, Oldbury.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) attended the scene.

"Upon arrival, crews found two patients, a man and woman.

"Unfortunately, it quickly became clear nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene.''
