Norfolk and Suffolk police are encouraging everyone to play their part in reducing drink drug driving, this Christmas.

The message comes as part of their prevention campaign which started at the start of December and runs until New Years Day.

"They will be looking to lose their license for at least 12 months"

Sergeant Byron Hearsum works as part of the Roads and Armed Policing, across the two counties.

"It's really important that if you have been out drinking the night before that you allow sufficient time for the alcohol to leave your system and that you have sufficient time eat and drink. So that you feel fit and well to complete your next journey."

"Anyone that's impaired by drinks or drugs will be put before a court within 24 hours or the next available court. If they are over-limit they will be looking to lose their license for at least 12 months, but it could be more if there are any aggravating circumstances."

"You need to do anything in your power to stop them"

"It's a shared responsibility around a fitness to drive and if you are out with anyone who is drinking, and you know they are going to drive- you need to do anything in your power to stop them from doing that."
