We're being warned about some possible treacherous condition on roads across North Yorkshire.

A yellow weather warning for snow has come into force and covers much of the County.

Later today an amber warning for heavy snow comes into force covering Harrogate and parts of the Dales.

Councillor Keane Duncan is from the County Council and in charge of North Yorkshire's gritters: "We have 79 gritters that we can deploy at any one time. 55,000 tonnes of salt. We are actually able to treat over 54% of the Counties road network."

Despite reassurances over salt levels, Councillor Keane says it's vital that drivers take extra care and give gritter the time and space they need to carry out their work: "These are big vehicles spending salt across the road for public safety, so please do be considerate, my message as well would be please take care, gritting doesn't guarantee an ice or snow free surface."
