Make-over for underpass in Bridlington
There's new artwork on Trinity Road.
Partners in the East Riding recently combined to complete a graffiti art project in the Trinity Road railway underpass, in Bridlington.
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council's safer communities team joined forces with the Youth Offending Service, Making a Change, East Riding Voluntary Action Services (ERVAS) and Network Rail as part of Humberside Police’s ‘Operation Gatehouse’ to complete the project.
Professional artist, Emma Garniss, was on hand to provide expert advice and tuition to a number of young volunteers on the day.
The wall was given an undercoat, in preparation of the main work and over-painted with an anti-graffiti coating afterwards, once dry.
Restorative justice officer at East Riding Youth Offending Service, Sian Lomas-Morgan, said:
“It was a fantastic afternoon working with ERVAS and our partners and some brilliant young people to bring some art and colour to a community space like the Trinity Road railway underpass. A lot of the passer-by’s were very impressed on the day and I hope the people of Bridlington appreciate the hard work undertaken by many very talented young people.”
Chris Almond from Humberside Police added:
“From a police perspective it is great to see such improvements taking place. The subway which experiences quite heavy footfall is being brightened up and made more attractive. These improvements will be enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike. Hopefully the improvements will deter any future vandalism and encourage people to look after the place in which they live.”
